Every day, in Guatemala City alone, between 10 and 15 people are murdered. The majority of bodies are buried with no form of identification and are transferred to the morgue where they are allowed to remain for between 24 and 72 hours. If the bodies are not claimed, they are automatically transferred to La Verbena Cemetery where they are buried as XX.
Ironically, when someone reports a disppearance to the National Police, the investigation and search starts only 72 hours later. For this performance I commissioned a tattoo artist so that, for no charge, he would tattoo the names and identity numbers on the arms of those who were interested in participating.
