O meu e o seu is an album of seven woodcuts by Antonio Henrique Amaral, a former student of Lívio Abramo’s, thatwere first exhibited in 1967 when Brazil was under military dictatorship. They were launched as a book with an introduction by poet and critic Ferreira Gullar and are a reaction to this politically critical and emotionally charged period within Brazilian and world history. They satirize and denounce the physical and psychological violence that Amaral perceived as characterising the exercise of local and global power at that time. They also reflect on the position of the individual and the potential value or triviality of private concern and anxiety in the face of overwhelming events.
